What exactly are lip fillers?
Lip fillers are injectable gels containing hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body. These fillers add volume and definition to lips by restoring lost HA and reshaping lip contours.
Am I a good candidate for lip fillers?
If you are in good general health, don’t have an active oral infection (e.g., cold sore), have realistic expectations, and wish to improve lip shape or volume, you may be a good candidate. A consultation is essential to confirm suitability.
What can I expect during the procedure?
A topical or local anaesthetic is applied for comfort. The physician then uses a fine needle to inject filler into specific lip areas (border, body, corners). An ice pack may be used to minimise swelling. Total time: ~30–60 minutes.
How long do results last, and are they permanent?
Results typically last 12–18 months depending on age and metabolism. Lip fillers are not permanent — they gradually break down over time. Additionally, they are reversible via an enzyme if needed.
What are the risks and after-care requirements?
Risks include mild bruising, swelling, tenderness, cold-sore activation, asymmetry, or very rarely vascular complications. After treatment you should ice, avoid lip products for 24 h, avoid strenuous exercise for 24h, refrain from puckering or straw-use, and drink plenty of water.
How long will a dental crown last?
With good oral hygiene and care, a crown can last anywhere from five to fifteen years or more. If wear, damage or decay beneath the crown occurs, it may need replacing sooner.
Will placing a crown hurt?
The procedure itself should not be painful—local anaesthesia is used during preparation. After placement you may feel some sensitivity to hot or cold, or gum tenderness around the treated tooth, but this usually subsides within a few days.
What materials are used for crowns and which is best?
Crowns can be made of porcelain fused to metal, all-ceramic (porcelain or zirconia), composite resin, or precious metals like gold/palladium. The best material depends on the tooth’s location, your bite force, aesthetic requirements and budget. All-ceramic looks most natural; metal is strongest in hidden areas; porcelain-fused gives a compromise.
